
Mobile Apps for Connected Home Appliances

As the design lead of the digital product organisation in Electrolux Group I built and scaled a cross-disciplinary digital design function that included UX research, UX writing with digital product design.
Together with our engineering and product teammates, we resolved a fragmented digital strategy by consolidating the existing IoT mobile apps under a single codebase and cloud implementation. We then published our app in multiple brands using design tokens for brand expression elements.
Through our efforts we were able to reduce the number of mobile apps within Electrolux Group from over 12 separate apps to a single app that is published in 4 different brands: Electrolux, AEG, Frigidaire & +home and is companion to 11 connected appliance categories including air purifiers, air conditioners, robot vacuum cleaners, washing machines, tumble dryers, ovens, and refrigerators. The app is localised to over 90 countries, supports over 25 languages and is integrated with both Amazon Alexa as well as Google Assitant.
Electrolux Group sells approximately 60 million household products in over 120 markets every year.
